A judge in Texas is preparing to send an additional $2 billion to Puerto Rico’s victims after the devastation of Hurricane Maria, the Associated Press reported Wednesday.
Judge Carlos A. Ramos is sending $1 billion toward relief efforts to the island, according to the AP.
Ramos has said he expects the extra money will go toward paying medical bills for victims.
The $1.5bn comes as President Donald Trump said on Twitter that he will personally reimburse the island of 6.5 million people.
