When Judge Milia husband of Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Lujan Hidalgo was detained in a Miami jail for allegedly assaulting a female police officer, she asked the Miami- Dade County Public Defender’s Office to help her fight her case.
The judge was arrested in October 2016, along with her husband, husband-to-be Judge David Milia.
He is facing two charges: one for domestic violence and one for stalking.
They are both charged with assault on a public servant and two misdemeanors each.
Miami-Dades Public Defender Michael Nieves said Monday that Hidalgos attorneys had not filed a lawsuit against the judge’s defense team, but he said they were working to get one filed.
Nieves said the judge had been held in solitary confinement since October.
Hidalgo is scheduled to go to trial for her assault charges next month.
The Miami- dades Public Defenders office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
